Filmmaking tips from the Bahamas Film Industry

Making your film a reality

If money is no object and you are well established you can make any kind of movie on any subject matter and you can do it on any continent.
if you are just starting out, the best way to make your film a reality without spending a lot of money is to:
1. Base it around the things that you already have.
2.The environment you are in
3.The people around you.
For example, don’t try writing a screenplay that has to take place aboard a speeding yacht, unless you own one or can afford to rent or buy one. If you don’t even know a friend who owns one, the film will never happen.
First, visualize your movie inside your head, shot by shot, cut by cut. Draw out those shots on a storyboard. Next, you’ll need equipment, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a camera. Just ask a friend or someone you know that has a camera, to borrow their own. Some film schools and civic organizations offer year round training that includes equipment. Finally, there’s post-production. When you have finished shooting your movie, you need to find a good processor to develop your film. Sometimes they give discount rates to students or low – budget productions. Lastly, you will need to edit. After it’s changed to video format you can use a video editing system like: Final cut pro or Avid to do your editing.- starsinparadise.com

It has been six years and five rejected versions of the book's manuscript before reaching a settlement with his Comasuki partners. The main issue that led to the delay was due to the fact that

Jefford Curre'. At the core of the Bahamas Film Industry

Could he be among the few
positioned well enough
to take the Bahamas
movie industry to the
next level?

With all odds stacked against him, he started his journey as a shy, nerdy, skinny kid, living on a dead end street on the 7 by 21 mile island of New Providence in the Bahamas. Challenging times, hard work, bee stings and fierce discipline, has no doubt played a major role in Jefford Curre’s evolution into a world class, award winning talent. With a whole lot of help, he is successfully rewriting the rules of box-office super-stardom.
To some, he’s a jet setting playboy with a “Midas” touch, to others, he’s a trusted spiritual leader. Whatever your conclusion may be, one thing remains clear and without contest, Jefford Curre’ is more than just a leader, he is an artist beyond compare, and a powerful inspiration to anyone who struggles to make impossible dreams come true.

Screen writing for the Bahamas Movie Industry

JEFFORD CURRE'
                                                                              headlines the
BOX-OFFICE SUPERSTAR SUMMIT
Winter season tour
gets high poll ratings
as writers benefit from
movie development deals

Heavily inspired by the success of box-office superstar, Jefford Curre', the inventor of the Bahamas Film Industry, new writers want to make their dreams come true. Whether they are in the Bahamas, San Francisco or Japan, they want to make this happen with their names still on the writing credits on opening night. It's a wishful desire, but few may have the spiritual fortitude or industry connections to lead a convincing Hollywood battle. Writers want the ultimate recognition and career launch, that could derive from just one of their creative works. Keeping your name in the game, is the name of the game, however it is an extremely difficult thing to accomplish in today's box-office world, driven by name power. Labels with contractual obligations of a well stacked established writers roster, will always find it a better business decision to ignore the risky new comer. In the eyes of fast dividend seeking investors, an unknown writer would find it an easier task to locate a needle in a hay stack, than to expect priority consideration. So how exactly does a new writer get his/her name in lights? Well actually they don’t.

Actually that is not entirely true. The really creative unsigned writer can always figure out a way to use a search light or a candle to illuminate his/her name on the final draft. He/she can accomplish this best while sitting in a dark apartment with no electricity, but other than that, there have been very few options, if any. Before you start laughing at the poor little writing people, let us finish. Stars In Paradise have learned through the grape vines of Hollywood, that getting to keep your name on a manuscript is not just a poor unknown or unpublished writers problem. We have found out that even the established season unknown writers with money, family clout, government connections and beautiful faces can't break this almost impenetrable industry fraternity code. Lets try to remain positive and industrially honest when it comes to the success of screenplay manuscripts or books, it's all about who wrote it, not what it's about or how well it's written.

Is there a 21st. century solution to this age old problem? Keep up with Stars In Paradise magazine at starsinparadise.com. We will bring you the latest patented innovations that were unveiled by Jefford Curre' at the 2012 Winter Season presentations of the Box-office Superstar Summit Tour.

17. Bahamas Film Industry Icon relates to Black History Month from a worldwide cinema veiw.

Jefford Curre'

Bahamas Film Industry icon identifies with the challenges and triumphs that marks Black history Month

During this Black History month, Stars In Paradise will feature, an excerpt from "Jefford Curre' Epic Memoir".  This month's daily segments will be taken from the chapter titled, "Civilian Engagement".

Civilian Engagement  Excerpt No.17.
...........Contd. from excerpt No. 16. posted on February 21st

There was no law against intelligence, so we organized the most high powered intelligent campaign and applied it in full force.  Within a short time, we had totally disorganized the enemy, cutting short their hopeful tentacles of organized crime, that could have had a grip on the Bahamas new number one industry.  We decided that day, that the Bahamas Film Industry should be open to every Bahamian who has an interest and the aptitude for the movie industry.  We believe that it should be the one thing that an individual could succeed at without having to be from a wealthy family, tight with government, or connected with any particular religious organization or political party.
Moviemakers stand in a class all by themselves, when it comes to telling palatable stories that would otherwise be overlooked, or ignored and that is a great responsibility.  Over the years the Bahamas indigenous movie industry has become our most reliable crisis prevention stabilizer.  It has proven to be a vehicle for free speech that no one is able to stop.  This position has been maintained at a very high cost, and each and every pioneering box-office entrepreneur has paid their price in full, in one way or another.  Indigenous movie making in the Bahamas will inevitably become the new pulpit.  The impact on our social and moral conscience is now heavily influenced by the craftsmanship of skillful indigenous moviemakers, more than any other source.
We believe freedom of speech is one of the most important tools a citizen can have.  Nothing personifies freedom of speech more vividly than the ability to tell stories through the art of movie making.  It was our determination to not let the Bahamas budding, new number one industry be used just as a tool to enslave Bahamians.  We did not think it should be an afterthought in an attempt to extend the tourist market.  We believe that it should be addressed with royal respect, in a manner that would open the gate to a new world of opportunities for a wider demographics.
On this note, as we now enter the official archives of Black History Month, let it be known throughout the land from sea to sea, that the Bahamian filmmaker is positioned to bring healing and progress to his heritage more than any other entity that exist.  Whether or not he/she chooses to embrace his/her position of honor, with integrity, would be clearly up to the individual.  But to those who have grasped the vision, recognized their uniqueness and have stepped forward,  I encourage you as you continue to grow by leaps and bounds and by the thousands.   At the start of the Bahamas Film Industry in 1994, I said in my first press interview from the Megavision Pictures Paradise Island base,  “We have been wisped as by magic and we’re standing now on the dawn of the Bahamas new number one industry.  Today,  I am much inspired by the success of the formation of an industry that should not have happened in the way it did, and as a result, I give my encouragement to all filmmakers.  Don’t give up, always stand for what you know is right!  Continue to move onward, forward, upward, and together.

This is the final excerpt from the “Civilian Engagement” chapter which was taken from “Jefford Curre’ Epic memoir”.  Based on the number of visitors,  we can tell that you have enjoyed this Black History Month special.  Stay tune and keep up with starsinparadise.com

Young filmmakers move up faster at Bahamasfilmindustry.com

Bahamasfilmindustry.com is making it easy for start ups to move ahead quickly, by pushing the limits of qualifications, accountability and credentials. Believe it or not you can get some meaningful movie experience just by watching a variety of different movies and paying close attention to things like lighting, the angles of shots, the type of music for certain scenes etc... . However, just watching movies won’t complete the package, find someone who is making movies consistently and talk your way onto the team, even if you have to start as a production assistant standing by to take care of small chores that pop up throughout the day. Even this could be a tough position to get into, but if you offer to work just for experience or deferred payment, more than likely you will beat out the competition. You could end up in a position which will ultimately lead to making money.

You can also utilize your local bookstore or library and read a book about film making, find one that can teach you all the technical things you need to know about film making. This Fall the megavisionkingdom.com will offer a wide range of opportunities for young movie makers that really mean business. They won't be free, then again nothing worthwhile ever is.- starsinparadise

Bahamas Film Industry news alert: Princess Dag New life Cremation Ceramony

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.
Blessed be the name of the Lord

Psalms 100

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.
 Know ye that the Lord he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

(A 3 minute moment of silence/prayer)

(Now lets repeat the 23rd Psalm)

Psalm 23

The Lord Is My Shepard

 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
 he leadeth me beside the still waters.
 He restoreth my soul:

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

A Tribute to: The Loving heart of Princess Dag
A eulogy in remembrance of our sister Dagney

She never hesitated to share her much needed brand of smiles. She gave freely. We can say to a large degree of certainty God loves her because God loves a cheerful giver. She's that cheerful giver indeed. God loved her to the extent of which he became her provider. She lived life's highs and lows. Yet even in her "low" she was the voice too! When things got a bit lukewarm, "Princess Dag" knew how to keep the fire burning in our souls. Now we embrace the craving for more of her friendship, more of her unrehearsed smiles, more of her passion and more of her kindred spirit.  She touched life with graciousness! She had a proverbial sense of discernment which navigated through every situation. Princess Dag knew her Creator.  Like the Psalmist she did come taste and see that the Lord is good. (Hebrews 6:5) which makes personal inquire, asking: "Who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age?" Through her Christian faith she always maintained hope.

Princess Dag was a conscientious entrepreneur, Interior Designer and consultant with two business ventures she started. "Designer Club International" and "Analysis Group LLC." Princess Dag  was born in Nassau, Bahamas and also lived portions of her life in the Cayman Islands, Miami, Atlanta and Washington D.C. she had a rich passion for Bahamian and French culture. Princess Dag was good-hearted and her friends and foes, people near and far attest to the fact that Princess Dag was an extraordinary opulent soul. She had a zest for Real Estate and jewelry, but her treasures were not of this world. Her most valued possession was the road she trod - which led onto her God and eternal life. Princess Dag indeed was a princess who became a "kneeing-warrior" and a front-line-of-defense against enemies of the kingdom and died in battle with a heroic honor of dying in her sleep. She was an exceptional warrior and could not be taken any other way. In the early morning hours on Wednesday January 28, 2015, Princess Dag slipped away, as her guardian angels escorted her to her awaiting throne.

"Princess Dag" leaves behind an earthly kingdom of relatives and friends inspired with the realization that we are the kingdom that has come. As Saints of God, Heaven is a place we look forward to occupying some day. According to Jesus the Kingdom of Heaven is also within us. It is our God given ability to turn our bad to good, make our life and the world a better place. It is up to us to make God's will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

The love of God will stay with you and comfort you. Amen

Dagney is survived by a host of relatives and friends:
The Curre' family, The McKinney family, The Jones family, The Pinder family, The Roberts family
The Smith family, The Moxey family, The Curry family, The Mukhtaar family, The Nixon family and
a host of friends and business associates.
Ceremony and Celebration provided by the ministery of the Megavision Kingdom.

Bahamas Film Industry Official Reminder of Princess Dag's ceremony To: Family and Friends

Official Reminder
 of
Princess Dag's ceremony
To: Family and Friends

This Sunday February 22, 2015 is the official day of Princess Dag's cremation. Between the hours of 5:30am-7:30a (EST) family and friends, will light a candle and pray wherever they happen to be, at home, a friends house, a hotel etc.
This observance is not a sad day.   As a matter of fact, it is a lighthearted day of celebration.  It is  the day of the Oscars.  A day that will perfectly reflect the spirit of Dag, being a person of drama and flair.  The Bible encourages us to rejoice for those that move on to higher ground  and weep for those  coming into the world.  As people of emotions and memory, we tend to  do the opposite, but this will be the turning point, when family and friends will make the principles of Christian living their rule of government and discipline. We will carry on from this point, knowing that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning!
Don't give up, hold your head up, with the assurance that God understands your grief, God forgives and comforts.  It is the power of the almighty God that will see you through.  So celebrate and look ahead to your new day!  God's got this!

Bahamas Film Industry

Stars In Paradise will feature, an excerpt from "Jefford Curre' Epic Memoir".  This month's daily segments will be taken from the chapter titled, "Civilian Engagement".

Civilian Engagement  Excerpt No.15.
...........Contd. from excerpt No. 14. posted on march 13th

I had no choice but to give up or seek a higher source of help. This time I decided to change my approach. I had so many problems at this point, I literally felt embarrassed to ask God for anything. So in my prayer of desperation, I decided to simply thank Him for the solution. The solution that I faithfully assumed was on the way. I had no evidence, I simply could not believe that God would abandon me, when considering it was He who gave me the vision to birth the Bahamas Film Industry. The next day an amazing thing happened I could not see it coming and there was no reason for it, I didn't ask for it neither was I qualified for it.

As faith would have it, I was offered....to be continued.
